Kids do Ecology Poster Sessions at NCEAS
Each year our local program wraps up with a poster
session here at NCEAS. Student representatives from our participating
classes talk about their experiments, show posters of their experiments and results, and answer questions from other
students, teachers, and NCEAS scientists. It's a fun event where
the students get to show off what they have learned over the last
few months and share their knowledge the way real scientists do
at professional meetings. Here are some highlights from this year and some prior years.
2007 Poster Session

Student representatives from ten classrooms presented their projects at NCEAS for the 2007 Kids Do Ecology Poster Session. With record attendance this Poster Session was full of excitement as students shared their research with other students, teachers, parents, NCEAS scientists, and staff. There were a variety of projects including examining seed dispersal to different sized islands, observing competition between spiders within the same habitat, and looking at whether or not mussel size matters for sea star predators. These are just a few of the great experiments that our students conducted this year. From the presentations it was clear that this year’s students learned a lot about ecology! Check out the following pictures that highlight the fun and hard work shared by the Poster Session participants.
