10:00 am - 10:30 am Boyer -- presentation and brief group discussion of task A, "to collect and analyze more regional-scale data on N inputs and exports."
10:30 am - 11:00 am Lewis -- presentation and brief group discussion of task B, "to refine estimates for the export of nitrogen from regions relatively unimpacted by human activity."
11:00 am - 11:30 am Townsend -- presentation and brief group discusson of task C, "to model the flux of N from regions, particularly from regions where N is not limiting to terrestrial ecosystems."
11:30 am - 12:00 pm Alexander & Smith -- presentation and brief group discussion of task D, "to compare the regional mass-balance approach for N export used in the earlier SCOPE N efforts with other efforts to estimate N export from the landscape to coastal oceans."
These presentations will be very informal. We hope to further refine the goals of these tasks and to determine who is interested in participating in each. We will then spend the rest of the time at the meeting outlining a work plan/manuscript from each task. This may involve meetings of sub-groups, or the group may decide to pursue all as common discussions.
Bring appropriate data sets, papers, etc., if you have any suspicion that these might be useful to any of our tasks.
Santa Barbara and NCEAS are informal; please dress comfortably and informally.
Please remember that we will have a follow up meeting on May 25-28.
