NCEAS Deputy Director to lead CEREO at Washington State University

NCEAS Deputy Director, Stephanie Hampton, has been recruited by Washington State University to direct WSU's system-wide Center for Environmental Research, Education and Outreach (CEREO). Founded in 2006, CEREO promotes interdisciplinary environmental initiatives for researchers across all 5 WSU campuses and their national and international partners.

"The move to WSU is a richly deserved opportunity for Stephanie,” said Frank Davis, NCEAS Director. “Since 2006, Stephanie has served as Deputy Director of NCEAS and has directed operations and supported the NCEAS community with professionalism, intelligence, and passion. We hope to find ways to keep her engaged with NCEAS!”

“Dr. Hampton brings both her broad research experience as a freshwater scientist and her demonstrated ability to work with researchers representing a wide range of disciplines to her new post as CEREO director,” said Nancy Magnuson, WSU’s interim vice president for research.

Hampton will begin her new position on January 1, 2014. She will be returning Moscow Idaho - just 8 miles across the border from the WSU-Pullman campus - where she lived when she was on the faculty at University of Idaho before coming to NCEAS. She will continue her freshwater research and serve the WSU community as a professor in the School of the Environment.
