Abstract
We propose to synthesize data available from the 18 Long-Term Ecological Research sites and the literature to search for general patterns in the relationship between productivity and diversity of both producers and consumers. We will emphasize intra- and inter-ecosystem comparisons over broad ranges of productivity, diversity, and spatial scale. Meta-analysis will be used to synthesize results from experimental manipulations of productivity at LTER sites. The product of the analysis will be a published
synthetic review to be used by ecologists and resource managers.
