Products Survey | Scientific Computing Services Survey
Dear NCEAS Scientist:
Maintaining comprehensive records of the activities at NCEAS and their results is extremely important. Please take a little time to update us on results and new initiatives generated from your NCEAS-sponsored research. We rely on this information to evaluate the Center's effectiveness and to report to the National Science Foundation, the State of California and other sponsors. Acknowledging NCEAS' contribution to your research in publications and reports is important and can be facilitated using one of our suggested acknowledgement formats.
Please review the survey questions below and submit your answers here.
There are two parts to this survey, a Products Survey and a Scientific Computing Services Survey.
- If there are no product additions since your previous survey submission, please indicate. If you would like to know which products you have previously reported to NCEAS, email us and tell us the name of your project(s).
- Even if you do not have new product additions to submit, please take the time to complete the Scientific Computing Services portion of the survey. This information will provide valuable feedback which we will use to assess and improve our computing services.

Please review the questions below, and submit your answers here.
Please indicate Yes or No for the following questions
Were you aware of the types of computing services available at NCEAS before your arrival?
Have you read NCEAS’ Computing Services Overview?
During your work at NCEAS, were you able to efficiently complete your work using our computing environment and network?
If applicable, are you able to access NCEAS Computing Services when you are not at NCEAS?
How might we have better informed you about computing at NCEAS in advance of your arrival?
How might the Scientific Computing staff better assist you and, if applicable, your group while working at NCEAS or remotely?
Which types of computing tasks were required during your work at NCEAS?
Data location/entry/access/organization
Metadata (data documentation) entry/storage/distribution
Database development
Statistical analysis
Analytical and/or simulation model development
List any other requirements and summarize briefly any of the tasks above that were particularly difficult to address while at NCEAS and why.
Which (if any) of these technological obstacles did you encounter at NCEAS?

Analytical computing power (need faster computers)
Graphics production (need higher resolution, better display)
Connectivity (network too slow)
Not enough computers
Lack of technical support/consultation
More or better output devices
Important software missing
Please explain any of the obstacles you checked above or list other issues.
