Carl Gustav Carus (1789-1869)

German anatomist, like Oken one of the early 19th century "Naturphilosophen" who argued for the unity of form among vertebrates. Carus' textbook was translated into English and influenced some of English radical morphologists, including Grant. Carus later (1844) met Owen on a trip to London, and was still active in research at that time.
