Dr Mark Anthony Browne
I am an ecologist working to understand the impacts of human activities (priority pollutants, plastic debris, urbanization) on marine biodiversity and rehabilitating affected habitats (ecological engineering).
I collaborate closely with colleagues at a wide range of national and international institutions, enabling a strong multi-disciplinary approach.
I am particularly interested in the scientific basis for managing environmental problems. I advise governments and industry on this.
At NCEAS, I am coordinating a working group investigating the sources, fates, risks and impacts of marine debris. This work is helping the public, industry and governments to make decisions that reduce the social, economic and ecotoxicological problems caused by debris.
