One way a clone can increase production rate is by clustering cells together. Here, a bacterium is surrounded by 14 other bacteria.
You can see that the concentration reached in the center of the cell is quite high, and that the distance to which the concentration threshold is reached is also very large.
I think this result is very interesting: a cell in the center of a cluster can reach really high concentrations, which is really important to quorum sensing.
