In modeling uptake, the solution is difficult to impossible, or involves risky simplifications. The results all confer some degree of loss of nutrient uptake upon attachment.
Here, I show one such simplification, just for discussion. The cell is modeled as a hemisphere, and it gives up 50% of it’s potential nutrient uptake, relative to a suspended cell.
