Notes:
In previous work, I have shown that sparse populations are optimal for clones of bacteria foraging on solutes. On the other hand, it might be quite the contrary for clones foraging on solids with extracellular enzymes. This of course would require additional modeling to include the uptake of the hydrolysate (the small molecule cleaved by the enzyme).
