about my research on
prey evolution

I use theory, field observations and experimental manipulations to develop and test hypotheses about the joint influence of ecological and evolutionary dynamics on the coexistence of species in interconnected communities.  Species movement over regional spatial scales provides an intriguing level at which to understand the creative and destructive elements of gene flow concurrent with the ecological dynamics of colonization, extirpation and community assembly. Where the two processes interact, I am finding novel outcomes for the coexistence of species across heterogeneous environments.  Such work has important insights for predicting when communities become species-poor or species rich following natural, or human, disturbances.
