Describe your work at NCEAS.
I study fisheries as social-ecological systems in order to inform management goals.
What's your favorite thing about NCEAS?
The many opportunities to meet and collaborate with researchers from diverse disciplines.
What was an "a-ha" moment or experience that made you want to do work in ecology, science and/or conservation?
I knew that I wanted to become an ecologist the first time that I had the opportunity to dive and get amazed by the beauty of the underwater world. It is just a magical experience that I would like to preserve for future generations.
If you could be any animal (or other organism), what would it be and why?
A sperm whale! They get to explore the deepest parts of the ocean!
What's your favorite Santa Barbara spot, and/or what's your favorite thing to do outside of work?
If you don’t find me at the office, I’ll most likely be salsa dancing or climbing outside.
