Describe your work at NCEAS
As a science communications fellow, I manage web content and write articles for newsletters and websites associated with NCEAS.

What’s your favorite thing about NCEAS?
It’s exciting to join a diverse and passionate community of scientists.

What was an “a-ha” moment or experience that made you want to do work in ecology, science and/or conservation?
I grew up in Maine and spent most of my childhood hiking, swimming, and cross-country skiing around New England and Southeast Canada. I also come from a family of engineers and scientists, so the combination of environment and science seemed natural to me.

If you could be any animal (or other organism), what would it be and why?
Sea otter. They have pockets in their armpits where they keep their favorite rocks for smashing sea urchins open. How cute is that?!

What's your favorite Santa Barbara spot, and/or what's your favorite thing to do outside of work?
Handlebar Cafe is my favorite spot to read, study, or catch up with friends.
