NCEAS hosting scientific peer review on genetics and taxonomy of wolves
A panel of scientists will meet at NCEAS on December 18, 2013 to begin the peer review process. At the conclusion of the peer review, each reviewer will prepare an individual report. NCEAS will collate these reports and a meeting summary into a final report for the USFWS and they will be made publicly available as soon as possible. It is anticipated that there will be opportunity for the public to comment to federal agencies on NCEAS's report.
“The Fish and Wildlife Service chose NCEAS because they were looking for an unbiased, academic institution to support the review process,” said Frank Davis, NCEAS Director. “All parties interested in the status of the gray wolf can be assured that NCEAS will work hard to ensure the integrity of the peer review process.”
