Scientific Software

NCEAS encourages and strongly supports the use of open source software packages. Software packages such as R, GRASS GIS, and PostgreSQL have benefited from significant contributions from the scientific community. These packages are distributed under an open software license, and publish their source code and algorithms. NCEAS also recognizes that for some research, commercial proprietary software products are the best alternative and we support such packages.
