The University of Chicago

Under the leadership of first president William Rainey Harper, Chicago quickly built leading zoology and geology programs, headed respectively by Whitman and Chamberlin. Numerous science faculty were recruited from Clark University in 1892. Zoology was taken over by Frank Lillie in 1910 and headed by him through the 1920s. Close ties to the Field Museum of Natural History.
