The Learning Hub teaches four data science principles through a five-day intensive course in R and GitHub called coreR: collaborative, open-access, reproducible, environmental data science.
Researchers explore strategies to improve public understanding of environmental data with an eye on environmental justice.
Seagrasses provide coastal protection, habitat, and food re- sources for many economically important marine organisms and play a role in carbon sequestration (Sullivan and Moncreiff 1988). Seagrasses range from the tropics to polar environments and there are about 60 different species worldwide (Orth et al. 2006). Juvenile organisms have much greater growth rates in seagrass meadows than in other habitats (Heck et al. 2003). However, seagrass loss has increased over the last 40 years in both tropical and temperate regions (Orth et al.
The National Science Foundation’s Arctic Data Center is the primary data repository for NSF-funded research conducted in the Arctic. There are major challenges in discovering and interpreting resources in a repository containing data as heterogeneous and interdisciplinary as those in the Arctic Data Center.
