DataONE Launches New Features With Version 2.0

DataONE (Data Observation Network for Earth) provides cyberinfrastucture for open, persistent, robust and secure access to well-described and easily discovered Earth observational data. Earlier this week, DataONE launched version 2.0. This version will continue to ensure preservation and access to multi-scale, multi-discipline and international science data, and now also supports many new features in response to user input. New data profiles allow researchers to access detailed metrics on their uploaded data, including records of the profile owners' data contributions and information on total number of data and metadata downloads by other DataONE users. These new data profiles provide DataONE users with a search interface which facilitates the review of personal data metrics as well as allow researchers to discover other data within the network.

DataONE version 2.0 user profiles have significantly enhanced the usability of DataONE. Now users are able sign into their data profile through ORCID, Google and university affiliations. Access to client tools such as R have been streamlined, and a variety of new technical features make it easier for users to manage their data.
