Project Description

The Survey of California Vegetation (SCV) is the State of California’s standard for classifying and mapping California’s vegetation, set forth by the Vegetation Classification and Mapping Program (VegCAMP) of California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW). The SCV starts with collection of plant community data in the field that are analyzed to develop a classification of vegetation types into natural communities, which is then used to create fine-scale digital vegetation maps. The objective of the SCV is to develop a state-wide, fine-scale comprehensive classification and digital vegetation layer that is uniform in resolution and supported by field data, using a repeatable methodology.
